FPL GW12 Captain

Are we all keeping the faith on Salah or are there alternative picks from the Panel this week?

FPL GW36 Stats

Despite another tricky fixture and only returning 5 points in each of his last 2 matches, I’m still giving Salah the armband this week.

Some interesting options this weekend.

Mo Salah is the go to option due to the form he is showing this season. But I do think this will be a tougher game with Arsenal’s resurgence combined with the injuries Liverpool have suffered recently.

Salah has 7 goals and 2 assists in 9 games against Arsenal. The 2 assists and 4 out of the 7 goals coming at Anfield in 4 games. With these stats I will be sticking with Mo.

However if you are looking for a different option then Cristiano Ronaldo against Watford would be my pick. Watford have the 4th worst defence but have only faced 1 of last season’s top 4 sides and that ended in a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool. Another big defeat looks likely and I expect Ronaldo to produce a double digit return.

Despite Arsenal’s improved form, they have rode their luck in recent weeks, keeping a clean sheet v Leicester despite conceding an xG of 1.2, while allowing Josh King an open goal chance last GW which he contrived to miss.

Salah & Liverpool are unlikely to be as forgiving.

If Ole wasn’t at the wheel, I’d captain Cristiano in a heartbeat – but Ole coupled with United needing to get a result midweek v Villareal puts me off. And his ownership is low enough that just owning him is a nice differential.

Liverpool and Arsenal as a fixture have had a history of high scoring results. I expect a similar high scoring affair this weekend and I cannot fathom not giving the armband to Mo Salah.

Salah has scored 6 goals against the Gunners and his rich vein of form might trouble an improved Arsenal defense. Whilst it will be tempting for many to look at Son and Kane versus a hapless Leed’s defense, my captaincy recommendation remaining squarely with Salah.

Whilst an In form Aaron Ramsdale stands in the way of Mo Salah I back him to have some joy down the right side.

He now has quite an incredible 92% return rate in the last 12 games and will be highly captained too.

That said I think this is the first week since the start of October we could have a discussion about opposing him with, drum roll… Ronaldo.

Man Utd have a great match up against Watford and I back them to bounce back this week and of course if they do, he will be front and centre of it.

Another plus for him would be Watford have conceded the most headers at home this season.. till the next one .. Siuuuuu but Mo is the man

Salah has a total of 117 points, a whopping 50 more points than the 2nd place cancelo, who has 67. So if you want to be safe, go for Salah.

If you want a differential pick, go for Kane who has scored 7 goals in his last 2 international games.

Difficult one this week. Obviously Mo Salah is winking at me for the armband but I am not sure I fancy it this gameweek.

Liverpool’s form has dipped a bit of late and Arsenal are getting tougher at the back as the season progresses.

My head is therefore turned to Son, who is my transfer target this week, and has a straightforward fixture against Leeds. Part of me is also tempted by Cancelo, who could get returns at both end of the pitch against an Everton side who look at sixes and sevens at the moment.

In the absence of a solid decision, I will probably end up going Mo Salah.

A couple of options available.

Livramento against Norwich who have recently appointed Dean Smith.

Duffy looks like a tasty option for captain especially after scoring in the international break but you can never tell how the Villains are going to perform under their new manager, Stevie G.

Liverpool up against an Arsenal side who have been stubborn in defense. Salah who has been touted for “perm” captaincy might finally see some challengers this week.

Watford against Man United is another game that could go either way. Sarr or Ronaldo. You just never know how Ranieri and Ole are going to set their team up to perform.

Out of all the options, Maxwell Cornet and Phil Foden are the ones that standout to me.

Cornet is finally showing why Burnley forked out €15m for him with the forward scoring 3 in his last 3. However, Crystal Palace will be a tough team.

Therefore, I’m backing Phil Foden to bring Man City back to winning ways. The English forward helped his country qualify for the World Cup with 2 assists while he was substituted early in both games.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has got only 2 goal involvements in last 6 games, is going to be my captain for this GW. He’s up against Watford, a side which hasn’t done much great in defense till now this season with conceding 19 goals in 11 games. Talking of CR7, he’s got an xG/90 of 0.61 and xA/90 of 0.10 with 3.91 Sh/90. So, let’s al SIIIIIIIIIUUUUUUUUUUUU!

The standout captain pick is obviously Salah, as if you didn’t know, but after an international break full of goals, Harry Kane is a solid differential pick. He played like a whole different player against Albania and San Marino and whilst they aren’t the best quality teams, it shows that when he feels like it, he can be unstoppable.

I know that FOMO will be swaying a lot of people to captaining Salah, but for me, a differential pick would be Alexander-Arnold. He is also I’m amazing form and offers attacking returns at both ends of the pitch. Full backs/Wing backs have really come into their own over recent weeks. I am not fully decided yet but there is good chance that TAA will get the nod.
