FPL GW07 Captain

With Liverpool playing Man City, many FPL managers will look elsewhere for captaincy this week.

Lukaku (CHE | 11.7) at home to Southampton is the obvious pick this week (I just wish I owned him!).

Burnley are looking for their first win of the season and we’re unlucky against Leicester. My captaincy for this week is Chris Wood (BUR | 6.8). Norwich have an away xGA of 1.92.

Wood has scored 3 goals in 2 games against Norwich. We all remember his hat-trick last season, he has every chance of repeating that in this game.

A lot of people will be looking at Lukaku, but Southampton have only conceded once in their last 3 matches which included Man City.

I like the differential pick of Chris Wood (BUR | 6.8) up against a Norwich side that have conceded 16 goals in their 6 matches this season. Any Burnley goals is highly likely to have involvement from Wood.

Watch the Jimenez goal v Southampton last week, the way he controls the ball, shrugs Bednarek off and puts him to the floor.

Now tell me you can’t imagine Lukaku (CHE | 11.7) doing that – perhaps more than once. 1st for anytime goal scorer odds too. Chelsea need to bounce back after back-to-back defeats and I fully expect Tuchel to go all out for a win. Lukaku (c) for me

I’m going with a differential captaincy pick in Ismaila Sarr (WAT | 6.3), who performed exceptionally well in last 2 GWs.

He’s up against Leeds, the side which is one of the worst defence right now. They have conceded 14 goals in 6 games with an xGA of 12.3(17th worst). Sarr has registered 4 goals in 6 games with an xG+A/90 of 0.48 and 2.67 Sh/90.

It feels at the moment like we are spoiled for choice with captaincy options. This week I’m putting my faith in the big Belgian Lukaku (CHE | 11.7).

A lot is being made of Lukaku’s recent goal drought, however, this must be viewed in the context of the opponents he has come up against. Chelsea have faced Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham and Juve.

With the fixtures now calming down, I have faith that both Tuchel and Lukaku will be able to get to the bottom of the problem and get Chelsea scoring again.

Ronaldo (MNU | 12.7) is a good option for the captaincy as he will be on a high after his injury time winner in the Champions League.

Has to be Lukaku (CHE | 11.7). Although Salah is at home against Man city and loves scoring against them, averaging 6.5 points per game against Man city in 4 appearances, Lukaku seems the be the best bet.

He needs to start banging in more goals and Chelsea needs a win to shake of the Man city and Juventus losses.

Raul Jimenez (WOL | 7.5) , 5% owned. Now he has broken his duck i back him to kick on in a home fixture against a leaky Newcastle who concede chances a plenty down the middle (2nd worse).

There are some great captaincy shouts for this game-week with Lukaku, Antonio, Ronaldo and Salah.

Salah’s form and record against Man City is flattering but City’s defensive stats this season are of an equal match. An near unstoppable force will meet an immovable object.

Lukaku and Antonio have both a peach of a fixture in Southampton and Brentford respectively.

Whilst all of them are tempting, I am going to be putting my armband on Ronaldo (MNU | 12.7). His confidence will be riding high after a dramatic last minute winner in the Champions League. I’ll backing that there will be a classic “SIU” celebration this week at home to Everton.
