Historically Liverpool forwards do well against Norwich (Luis Suarez in particular!) so I’m backing Salah (MID | 12.5) to get the season off to a strong start at Carrow Road.

Mo Salah (MID | 12.5) …anything else is overthinking. At a historically volatile time in the season, GW1 is all about keeping it simple and making sensible decisions to ensure the best chance of getting out of the starting blocks without tripping over. Who better than THE most consistent FPL scorer against a newly promoted side.

Mo Salah (MID | 12.5) is my pick for captaincy against a Norwich team coming of the back of a 3-0 pre season friendly defeat against Newcastle. Liverpool look hungry and fresh in pre-season and will look to make a big statement in the opening game. A double digit return for Salah is easily within reach.

For me the captain needs to come from the Liverpool Vs Norwich. The 2019/20 champions Vs the newly promoted side.
Mo Salah (MID | 12.5) has to be the stand out pick as you would also expect him to be on penalties and definitely expect to start his hunt for another golden boot in GW01.
If you want to go with somebody a little less popular though, you could go for Trent Alexandar-Arnold (DEF | 7.5). He had the summer to recover and come back stronger and finished last season on a high and offers great return potential at both ends of the pitch.

Salah (MID | 12.5) on opening day against a promoted team? We all remember what happened last season. Easy choice for me.
The only other person who I’d even consider is Kai Havertz (MID | 8.5) v Crystal Palace. He scored the last time these 2 teams met, and with Lukaku inbound, I expect Kai will want to lay down a marker and remind Tuchel of his abilities.

Salah (MID | 12.5) hands down. Norwich lost their main man in Buendia and are without Hanley. Liverpool’s recent record against Norwich is impressive. Expect a one-sided affair.
Mo Salah (MID | 12.5) surely has to be the one. Everyone is going to bring up his goal scoring record against promoted teams, so I won’t go into too much depth, but if you don’t captain this guy, expect a low rank come the end of the game week

Salah (MID | 12.5) – Started with a 20 point return last year – could well do so again! A strong safe captaincy pick to open the season. You cant win FPL in GW1 but you can lose it.

Everyone will be looking to have a strong start to their FPL season and what better way to start it off than making last season GW1 top scorer your captain this GW1.
Salah (MID | 12.5) scored a hat trick on GW1 in 20/21 against a newly promoted Leeds. The circumstances this time around aren’t just a coincidence. Liverpool will once again battle a newly promoted side, Norwich, away from home in GW01. Looks like history is about to repeat itself.
Liverpool tend to do well against Norwich. Remember Luis Suarez? Salah could just tear a page of Suarez’s book and do it all over again.
Lastly, why would you not want to take the safe route into GW01. 50% of FPL managers own Salah now. Arguably, all 50% of them could captain him. So why not? Rather be safe than sorry!

Mo Salah (MID | 12.5) is the only answer. Since 2017, he has had four consecutive seasons of opening day (GW 1) goals which includes last season’s hat-trick against then newly-promoted Leeds. The Egyptian will be a heavy favourite on the armband in terms of effective ownership as well. You don’t want to start the season taking that big a captaincy risk, especially against a newly-promoted Norwich.

Just go with Salah (MID | 12.5) for the captaincy choice and that isn’t a suggestion but a statement. For all those who didn’t captained him last time in the 1st GW, he scored a brace and sealed the match for Liverpool. It is usually recommended to go with a safe pick in the GW01 and it can’t be any safer than Salah against a newly promoted Norwich side.
If we look at his stats against the Norwich side, he scored once and assisted once in the 2019/20 season.
Other good consideration can be Sadio Mane (MID | 12.0) who had a red-hot form during the pre-season where he managed to get 3 goals and a assist. The Liverpool mid-fielder is just 3.2% owned which can give you a differential advantage too.

Over the last 3 season’s GW01s, Salah (MID | 12.5) has scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist. Norwich may need a while to get into speed at this level, we can expect Salah to be a safe pick.
