FPL Community Spirit
Read Time:3 Minute

Our contributor Stadium of Sports discusses the FPL Community Spirit, following up with his piece about how FPL help him got better.

As some of you know I’m a big advocate of mental well being and it’s great to see so much positivity on the Twitter FPL community.

Isolation and Recluse

We live in challenging times with a lot of people facing issues on anxiety and depression.

Being cut off from loved ones is tough – I’ve not been able to give my mum and dad a hug since March due to the pandemic.

Small things that you have taken for granted for have now become high on your want list.

Isolation is debilitating and a lot of people tend to become reclusive – I count myself in that category.

Change can be difficult but change within restrictive parameters where social interaction becomes a minimum, requires an effort to stay balanced in mind and clear thinking.

I’m a celebrity get me out of here

I was watching ‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here’ recently and it was interesting to see how a group of people who have been placed in a restrictive environment, outside of their comfort zone, have slowly changed in their personality.

More irritable, snappy with each other over the smallest things, bickering in pairs or groups, looking at each other’s differences, impatient when people were struggling with day to day tasks.

It is not because they are bad people all of sudden, it is just that the situation has become so extreme to what they were used to.

Yet when people are chosen to win food for the campmates, though initially anxious, knowing they will be faced with all kinds of creepy crawlies, you see a change, a resolve, a developing of the ‘we can do this’ mentality.

When they win the food, the elation and togetherness they bring back to the camp shows what strength we all have when we need to use it.

This kind of reflects the current state of the world, where nothing is the same as before and the path for hopes and dreams are challenging and full of obstacles.

FPL Community and Hope

There is hope, and I see it in the FPL community – the amount of people striving to create and make things happen is incredible.

The numerous podcasts that are creating top quality shows are unreal, my podcast library is just increasing rapidly. Insightful articles, unreal graphic stats pages, tongue-in-cheek videos; there are some serious minds at work in FPL.

In addition to this, the most important part for me is the interaction with all my online friends, you guys are dope. I never knew this community existed and I’m on a mission to tell more people about it as it is an important part of the game and elevates my enjoyment.

My love for writing

A couple of years ago after going through a tough time, I decided to have a change of career and go again.

Through several trial and errors, I fell into writing by accident. Just before the pandemic hit, I had written a script for a TV series, which I wanted to send out to publishers. Unfortunately, with the TV industry being delayed in its programming, it didn’t feel the right time to send it out.

I then decided to help out, becoming an NHS Responder to talk to people who were isolated and had no families. I also took up working in a supermarket to help pick foods for deliveries.

Later on, I decided to start a blog on one of my passions, FPL.

I am thankful that I have been able to somehow adapt and have this opportunity to write these blogs which may never had happened if I did not have to delay my script. I’m not the best writer, but I write from the heart and that’s what makes this so enjoyable.

The feedback and support from the community have been fantastic, it’s given me the confidence to carry on and determination to make each article better than before. You guys show that if you believe and strive, you can achieve.

I am glad to be part of this community and will like to make more connections. Follow me on Twitter!
