Togga Perfect XI | PXI – GW21 picks

With Tottenham’s win over Chelsea in GW20 giving the rest of the chasing pack some slither of hope, it’s now time to turn our attention to GW21. There are interesting games to look at from a fantasy perspective as well as matchups to steer clear of.

  • Burnley v Southampton
  • Everton v Manchester City
  • Hull City v A.F.C. Bournemouth
  • Leicester City v Chelsea
  • Manchester United v Liverpool
  • Sunderland v Stoke City
  • Swansea City v Arsenal
  • Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion
  • Watford v Middlesbrough
  • West Ham United v Crystal Palace

Stay Away From

  • Watford v Middlesbrough
  • Watford has not won in the last 5 games and Middlesbrough has only won once away in the league this season. This looks like it could turn out to be a really scrappy match and end goalless.
  • Manchester United v Liverpool
  • The big match of GW21 and also the match to stay away from. A matchup of the 2 in-form teams. The Red Devils have won their last 6 league matches and Liverpool has not lost in 6. But with both teams under pressure to not give up points, this could end in a dull draw. Or now that I’ve jinxed it, a really high scoring match since both teams have defences that clearly are lacking in quality.

Definitely Consider

  • Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion
  • With Spurs still on a high from their win over Chelsea, this could be a very good chance to build on their momentum with a matchup against WBA. Spurs have won 5 in a row while WBA hasn’t managed a clean sheet in the last 8 league games. It’ll be hard not to pick up some Spurs attacking players.

  • Swansea City v Arsenal
  • Although the gunners seem to be inconsistent in their performance, it will be worthwhile to consider the fact that they have scored in all but 2 of their league games so far. Much of the credit goes to Alexis Sanchez, who is the runaway leader of all PXI forwards. Swansea have lost 4 of their last 5 games and have conceded 3 goals or more in 4 of their last 5 home games.

GK

  1. Lloris, Hugo (TOT) – The safe bet of the week. Spurs are on a roll and the matchup is perfect for them to keep it going.
  2. Heaton, Tom (BRN) – With the Saints having played a mid week League Cup game, this would be a good time for Burnley to pick up some points and a clean sheet.

DEF

  1. Walker, Kyle / Rose, Danny (TOT) – Both are in the team of the moment and both have good chances of grabbing a goal/assist.
  2. Reid, Winston (WHU) – Against a Palace side that just can’t seem to get their act together.
  3. Alonso, Marcus (CHE) – Current league leaders against last season’s champions who have fallen from grace. He is Chelsea’s best performing defender at the moment.
  4. van Dijk, Virgil (SOU) – Should pick up points against Burnley regardless of the scoreline.
  5. Koscielny, Laurent (ARS) – Definitely a must have if you believe the gunners can keep a clean sheet.

MID

  1. Hazard, Eden (CHE) – He will most likely be in everyone’s team.
  2. Alli, Dele / Eriksen, Christian (TOT) – Alli has 6 goals in 3 games and Eriksen is playing the best football of his career. Pick one, or both!
  3. De Bruyne, Kevin (MCI) – He’s the man to have if you want to get in on the action against Everton.
  4. Ozil, Mesut (ARS) – Should be back for this weekend’s game. Top scoring midfielder for the gunners.
  5. Wilshere, Jack (BOU) – His performances have been good and might be due a goal.

NOT to include:

  1. Payet, Dimitri (WHU) – Payet is now out of favour after falling out with the manager and the club.

FWD

  1. Sanchez, Alexis / Giroud, Olivier (ARS) – Take your pick, either one should get on the score sheet this weekend.
  2. Kane, Harry (TOT) – Good matchup but the man has been frustratingly inconsistent this season, so pick him at your own peril.
  3. Aguero, Sergio (MCI) He’s back and definitely should start.
