Gameweek 9 saw 18 goals scored with 6 clean sheets.
It was another low scoring game with the average points being 37 and the most captained player was Aguero (MCI, 12.2m), who didn’t play a single minute.
Salah (LIV, 12.4m) was another highly owned player who didn’t play. Klopp said he was never in contention, and he didn’t mention this in his press conference. Guess he just didn’t want to give away too much information, for a game at Old Trafford which Liverpool has failed to win in their last 6 visits.
Other popular captains such as Abraham (CHE, 7.8m), Kane (TOT, 10.9m), Aubameyang (ARS, 11.1m) and De Bruyne (MCI, 10.1m) also didn’t get attacking returns, creating much frustration. Those who captained Vardy (LEI, 9.1m – 8 points) will be reasonably happy while those who went with Sterling (MCI, 12.1m – 5 points) will be relieved that he got an assist.
This Gameweek also saw VAR take center stage, as some goals were overruled after VAR review. Unfortunately, this will continue throughout the season as fans have to get used to VAR, which is being used for the first time.
One player who deserves a mention is Lundstram (SHU, 4.6m) who leads all defenders with 45 points after another clean sheet. I cannot see any managers who currently own him to discard him anytime soon.
