Good FPL managers know this – it is never about the immediate gameweek, but gameweeks to come. Planning is a key attribute of a top manager so this week, we look at 5 players to have in the coming weeks. Whilst form is naturally key to our selection, we also look at the fixture list.
5 gameweeks for now will take us to 10th Nov, over which three European gameweeks would have been played. In between, an international weekend would also have been played (between GW08 and GW09).
PE Aubameyang (ARS | FWD | 11.0) – The real question is actually – how long more can you afford to ignore the Arsenal forward. He has already registered at least an assist every week for the first 7 GWs and is sensational form. His partner Lacazette is out of action which means Arsenal would less likely to have the luxury to rest him. The Gunners also play in Europa League so Unai Emery might actually prioritize the Premier League – added to the fact that Arsenal is in a relatively straightforward Group.
Arsenal also have 3 home games in their next 5 and they do have a great record at the Emirates.
Teemu Pukki (NOR | FWD | 7.2) – Yes we are aware that Pukki has blanked for two gameweeks but it is key to note that those were two away games. The Canaries have only collected points at home so far this season and this trend look likely to continue. They stay true to their football and away from home, they are always going to struggle but at home, their energy level and pressing will trouble any opponent, ask Man City. Pukki is Norwich’s star player and the man everyone look for when they pour forward. He is going to contribute goals, especially at home.
Norwich have 3 home games in the next 5; Villa and Watford are two must win games should they want to have a chance to stay up. Pukki has already scored against Liverpool and City so he will have a good chance against United at home too.
Tammy Abraham (CHE | FWD | 7.6) and Mason Mount (CHE | MID | 6.7) – The duo are on form players for the Blues and are both very positive going forward. The thing is both are of course new to the Premier League and they will continue to improve as the season progresses. Both look set to be Chelsea’s first choice players, even with Champions League fixtures sandwiched among those gameweeks.
Chelsea have very winnable games in the next 5 and it would not be a surprise if they do pick up 15points from those games. In Newcastle and Watford, they play the current bottom two and will have every opportunity to register decent wins.
Andriy Yarmolenko (WHU | MID | 6.0)– The Ukrainian is almost like a new signing for the Hammers, after returning from injuries. He has already scored thrice for the club and is in good form. The Hammers do not have European duties and it does not look like Yarmolenko would be left out of the side any time soon. At his current price, he is a steal.
West Ham have 3 home games in the next 5 and do not play any of the top 6 sides. Everton away is typically tough but the Toffees are all over the place as we speak.
