FF Titans’ Predictions – 2017/18 Premier League season

A good skill to have for any FPL manager to have is to ability to deduce, at an early stage, who is likely to do well in a season. We gathered all our FF Titans editors and made some predictions for this upcoming season – how well will we do eventually?

  • FF Titan
  • FF Fly
  • FF Physio
  • FF Red Devil
  • FF Physio
  • FF Hobbit

We start and look at who we think will be crowned Champions of the 2017/18 Premier League.

It was tied at 2-2 between the Manchester United and Manchester City, with FF Physio believing in Jose Mourinho’s second season wonder. The Portuguese did win titles in his sophomore year with Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Read Madrid and Chelsea again. Can he do it for the sixth time? FF Fly picked Chelsea, who has strengthened after wining the title last term and FF Hobbit picked Arsenal, which he believes will be rewarded for their loyalty on Arsene Wenger.

Premier League Top-Scorer

Harry Kane was the most popular choice of our editors, FF Meow believing that Spurs’ limited options upfront will help Kane to this award. There were two picks for Romelu Lukaku and the most interesting pick came from FF Hobbit, who predicts Arsenal new boy Alexandre Lacazette will top score the league to back his prediction on the Gunners above.

Teams to be relegated

All six editors unanimously picked Brighton and Huddersfield to go straight back down after sensationally earning promotion last term. Both sides had tried to strengthen over the summer but in this climate of crazy signings, none of the editors gave them any chance at all. The third team to join the duo in the Championship next term did split some opinions, though four editors picked Swansea. FF Physio believed that the Swans will be hopeless if they lose Gylfi Sigurðsson.

FF Hobbit, however, picked Burnley to go if they fail to maintain their insanely strong home form from last term. FF Titan chose Watford, believing that no team can change their manager every season and expect to stay safe.

“Must-have” FPL Player

The category was deliberately not defined but two editors picked Harry Kane, given that if he ends up top-scorer again this term, he will be worth it whatever his price (currently: £12.5). In the same light, FF Physio picked Romelu Lukaku (£11.5)

FF Red Devil believes that Chicharito is a definitely must-buy @ £7.0 while FF Fly picked Liverpool new signing Mohamed Salah (£9.0), especially given that there are still lingering rumours on Philippe Coutinho‘s possible departure to Barcelona. FF Meow made a bold bet – picking Paul Pogba (£8.0) as a must-have.

Surprise FPL Package

We then asked the team of editors to pick who they believe will surpass expectations this season in the world of FPL. Two picked Chicharito, while four votes went to four other different players. FF Hobbit picked Jay Rodriguez (£6.0), WBA’s latest signing. He believes Jay Rod will put his past problems behind him and start scoring for the Baggies.

FF Titan picked Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie (£6.0), noting that he takes set-pieces for the Magpies and the team will likely score alot of Premier League goals. FF Hobbit went with Wayne Rooney (£7.5), pointing out that the current England captain looked sharp in pre-season. FF Fly went with Christian Benteke (£8.0) to turn the corner with Crystal Palace this term to regain his electric goal-scoring form.
