Breaking: Jose Mourinho replaces Pochettino at Spurs

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have announced José Mourinho as the new manager, within 24 hours of sacking Argentine Mauricio Pochettino.

47-year-old Pochettino joined Spurs from Southampton in Aug 2014 and finished 5th in his first year in charge. He has since led the club to four consecutive top 4 finishes, including a second place finish in 2016/17, behind Chelsea.

His biggest achievement, however, would likely be leading Spurs to the Champions League Final last season, a first in the club’s long history.

The club’s form, however, severely deteriorated after they knocked out Man City in the quarters in Apr. They have just won 7 games in 25 games (all competitions) since that fateful game in the Etihad where City had an injury time winner ruled out by VAR.

He ends his stay with Spurs as the fourth longest serving manager ever and also has the fourth highest win ratio.

Mourinho arrives at the New Tottenham Stadium after being away from football management for 11 months.

His last post was the Manchester United manager, where he lasted 2 and a half years and won three titles, including the 2017 UEFA Europa League.

He made his name in England as the Chelsea manager, where he won 3 league titles across two different spells.

All in all, he has a stunning win ratio of 63% in the Premier League and a total of 24 major titles over a 17-year managerial career in four different countries.

Spurs visit West Ham on GW13.
