Gameweek 16 saw 34 goals scored with 4 clean sheets.
Everton 3 – 1 Chelsea
After the sacking of Marco Silva, Everton got an impressive 3-1 win over Chelsea. The takeaway here is that Chelsea’s defence cannot be trusted, and those with Tomori will be thinking of whether to get rid of him.
Bournemouth 0 – 3 Liverpool
Liverpool finally got another clean sheet with a 3-0 win away at Bournemouth. For the festive period coming up, we expect heavy rotation as only VVD, Lovren and Robertson started all the 3 gamweeks from Gameweek 14 to Gameweek 16.
Spurs 5 – 0 Burnley
A 5-0 win where Kane got 2 goals and 1 assist, Son got 1 goal and 1 assist and Alli got 2 assists. There is even a rare clean sheet for Spurs. It is happy days again to be a Spurs supporter.
Watford 0 – 0 Palace
A pattern is emerging here where Watford just cannot buy a goal and are the league lowest scorers with 9 goals in 16 games. Similarly, Palace defence is doing well with their 3rd clean sheet in a row.
Man City 1 – 2 Man Utd
Man City slumped to another loss, this time to bitter rivals Manchester United. Most managers would have sold either Sterling or De Bruyne, and will now be contemplating if they can do with zero Man City attackers for the coming weeks. Rashford impressed again and now has 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games.
Aston Villa 1 – 4 Leicester
Leicester superb season continues and they are making life easy for FPL managers to choose their captain, with Vardy scoring another 13 points.
Newcastle 2 – 1 Southampton
Shelvey and Ings are the 2 players who caught the eye. Shelvey has scored in 3 successive games while Ings has scored in 5 successive games.
Norwich 1 – 2 Sheffield Utd
The value among Sheffield Utd is clearly from the defenders, with Baldock racking up the points with 1 goal and 1 assist and Stevens with the other goal.
Brighton 2 – 2 Wolves
Wolves is showing their resilience and has 3 wins and 3 draws in their last 6 league games. They have also started the same 10 players for the 3 games from Gameweek 14 to Gameweek 16. The only exception is Saiss, who didn’t play in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United in Gameweek 14.
West Ham 1 – 3 Arsenal
Another loss for West Ham piles on the pressure on Pellegrini. It is also interesting to note that Aubameyang has completed 90 mins for all the 16 league games so far and does not seem to be a rotation risk compared to the previous season. He is also the joint 2nd top scorer in the league on 11 goals alongside Abraham, behind Vardy’s 16 goals.
