FPL Gameweek 12 saw 28 goals and clean sheets for 4 teams.
Norwich continued their wretched form with a 2-0 loss at home to Watford and no goals scored. How they managed to beat Manchester City weeks back will remain is a mystery to many. At this rate, it is hard to see how they can starve off relegation. Deulofeu (WAT, 6.1m, TSB 2.5%) caught the eye with 1 goal, 1 assist and 3 bonus points.
Chelsea impressive form sees another goal for Pulisic (CHE, 7.4m, TSB 12.0%). It is now 5 goals in 3 starts for the American, who is now tempting managers to get onto the Pulisic Party. Chelsea also got their 3rd clean sheet of the season, which is perhaps not all that surprising against a goal shy Palace side.
The big talking point in Burnley 3-0 home win is that Taylor (BUR, 4.2m, TSB 0.6%) and Bardsley (BUR, 4.3m, TSB 0.1%) started in place of Pieters (BUR, 4.7m, TSB 9.8%) and Lowton (BUR, 4.5m, TSB 1.0%). It could be a long while before we see Pieters and Lowton starting again, given the comprehensive manner of the win.
Sheffield United got a very good draw away at Tottenham and now sit in the lofty position of 5th place, just behind Manchester City. Lord Lundstram (SHU, 4.9m, TSB 42.2%) as he is now known within FPL, almost scored again and it will be hard to not start him against Manchester United at home in Gameweek 13.
Leicester brushed off Arsenal with a 2-0 win at home, and looked good for a Top 4 finish come the end of the season. Vardy (LEI, 9.6m, TSB 36.0%) rewarded his owners with 1 goal, 1 assist and 3 bonus points and is probably an essential pick for all managers.
Manchester United attack has improved since the return of Martial (MUN, 7.8m, TSB 9.1%), who helped himself to 2 assists and 2 bonus points. Their next 3 fixtures looked ok (@SHU, AST, TOT) but with the appointment of Jose at Tottenham, the 3rd game just got a little bit tougher.
The big match this gameweek. Liverpool 3 Manchester City 1. Both Salah (LIV, 12.3m, TSB 26.2%) and Mane (LIV, 12.1m, TSB 36.3%) got onto the score sheet while the popular Manchester City attacking blanked. Doubts are creeping into managers’ mind if it is worthwhile to keep their Man City assets. With a home game coming against Chelsea in Gameweek 13, perhaps it is prudent to give the Manchester City attacking assets 1 more chance.
That’s all from Gameweek 12. Looking ahead at Gameweek 13, there does not seem to be a clear choice for captaincy. This means there is a good opportunity to make significant ground if you choose the right captain.
