Here are 5 talking points ahead of Gameweek 14.
Sterling (MCI, 12.0m, TSB 32.4%) has blanked in the last 3 gameweeks, and cruelly, with VAR chalking his last minute ‘goal’ against Chelsea. A look at his next 4 fixtures (@NEW, @BUR, MUN, @ARS) shows a mix of good and bad fixtures. Managers will be tempted to sell him for other in-form midfielders such as Son (TOT, 9.7m, TSB 11.1%), Pulisic (CHE, 7.5m, TSB 13.2%), Mane (LIV, 12.2m, TSB 39.9%) and Maddison (LEI, 7.6m, TSB 24.2%). With the next 3 gameweeks played over 10 days, you have to consider rotation risk and among the 4 midfielders listed, Pulisic is perhaps the most at risk not to start all 3 games.
- Which 3 players from Chelsea should you get?
Chelsea has decent fixtures coming up in the next 4 gameweeks (WHU, AST, @EVE, BOU). The 2 most owned Chelsea players are Abraham (CHE, 8.0m, TSB 51.0%) and Mount (CHE, 6.7m, TSB 31.3%). Abraham was subbed out following his injury in the Champions League game and his managers will now be eager to hear of his latest status during Lampard’s pre match conference this weekend. The 3rd spot would likely to be a toss-up between Pulisic (CHE, 7.5m, TSB 13.2%) and Tomori (CHE, 4.9m, TSB 8.6%), and we are leaning towards Tomori for his security of starts.
- Arsenal attackers?
Arsenal’s next 4 fixtures are @NOR, BHA, @WHU, MCI. Aubameyang (ARS, 11.0m, TSB 23.5%) and Lacazette (ARS, 9.3m, TSB 2.1%) are the 2 most likely players if you want to get their attackers but Emery has to juggle between Europa league games and the tight fixtures turnaround. Another name to consider is Ozil (ARS, 7.2m, TSB 0.8%) who has started the last 3 league games. That said, we think it is safer to stay away from all these players and keep your transfers to better use.
With a new manager in charge, Tottenham managed to secure their first win in 5 league games. Spurs have a mixed bag of fixtures coming up (BOU, @MUN, BUR, @WOL). There will be temptation to try and get in Kane (TOT, 10.8m, TSB 16.7%) and/or Son (TOT, 9.7m, TSB 11.1%), and maybe defensive assets such as Gazzaniga (TOT, 4.5m, TSB 3.7%) or Aurier (TOT, 4.8m, TSB 2.9%). We think it could be worth a punt to get in Kane and/or Son as they are proven FPL players. However, we recommend to stay off their defensive assets until we see that the defensive stability returning.
- The most important question – Who to captain?
It would take a brave person not to captain Vardy (LEI, 9.7m, TSB 40.8%) if you have him, given his form and TSB of more than 40%. We reckon Mane (LIV, 12.2m, TSB 39.9%) at home to Brighton will also gain a sizeable number of managers captaining him. Outside of these 2 players, managers who want a differential captain would perhaps look towards ARS players (away at NOR), TOT players (at home to BOU) or MUN players (at home to AST).
