FPL Gameweek 12 – 5 talking points

Here are 5 talking points ahead of Gameweek 12.

  1. Ahead of Liverpool vs Manchester City, what to do with their assets?

Most managers will have players from these 2 teams, which includes both defensive and attacking players. With both defences looking shaky, there should be goals from this game. Liverpool full backs are also doing pretty well from an attacking aspect, getting assists and scoring goals. So, we would say just play your players from these 2 teams and hope for a high scoring game.

  1. Mason Mount (CHE, 6.9m, TSB 36.8%) has a yellow flag and may not play this gameweek. What should we do with him?

Managers who bought him early in the season will have gained some value in him. It would make perfect sense to keep him in your squad and play him in the starting 11. If he plays, good. If he does not, get your bench ready to fill in for 1 gameweek. From the De Bruyne experience earlier in the season, those who shipped him out probably regrets as these managers would have wasted 2 transfers selling and buying him back when he was out injured for 1 game.

  1. Wolves have good fixtures coming up (AST, @BOU, SHU, WHU, @BHA, TOT). Should we buy Jimenez (WOL, 7.2m, TSB 12.0%)?

Last season must-have Jimenez is in only 12.0% of squads. At the start of the season, most managers were put off from buying him because of his price at 7.5m, as well as Wolves involvement in Europe. But he has started all 11 games so far, scoring 4 goals and getting 2 assists. So if you have a spare striker slot, he could be a differential player for you.

  1. Lundstram (SHU, 4.8m, TSB 39.4%) – Do you play him away at Tottenham?

After his 21 points haul last gameweek, the easy answer would be yes. However, it is probably more complicated than that. Sheffield United has 2 clean sheets in 5 away games. Tottenham has scored in 4 of their 5 home games. Therefore, if you have to choose between defenders who are playing at home, e.g. Tomori (CHE, 4.8m, TSB 7.5%), it could become a difficult choice.

  1. The most important question – Who to captain?

The most popular picks could be Vardy (LEI, 9.4m, TSB 28.5%) or Abraham (CHE, 7.9m, TSB 48.6%). However, the game at Anfield might turn out to be a high scoring game, where the likes of Mane (LIV, 12.0m, TSB 33.2%), Salah (LIV, 12.3m, TSB 27.5%), Sterling (MCI, 12.1m, TSB 38.2%) De Bruyne (MCI, 10.2m, TSB 40.5%) could all do well.

That’s all for Gameweek 12 and don’t forget that the deadline is on Friday.
